" I’m really delighted to be at the start of the Spa Rally, Mikkelsen commented. It’s an event I have never competed in, and apart from Ypres, I have never driven in your country. I’ve already understood that at this time of the year the course is likely to be muddy and with tricky conditions, which should make matters pretty exciting! I watched several videos on YouTube, and it appears to be rather different from Ypres, with many more natural bends coming thick and fast. Up until now I have never had the opportunity to test the Polo R5, but I’m sure that it’s potential is high, and you can count on me to go into the attack and thoroughly enjoy myself behind its wheel. As for the competition, it is a known fact that in Belgium there are numerous fast drivers, so this should develop into a great battle. In fact, I’m really happy to be able to compete in an event in Thierry Neuville’s country, as he is one of my very good friends. At the present time I’m relentlessly working to get back into WRC, and I hope it will be very soon. I’m taking full advantage and pleasure of having the opportunity to compete in this Spa Rally, as it will allow me to keep to the pace and have a good time. Whilst ensuring some great spectacle…"
